Released in 1985 Gauntlet turned the board game world of Dungeons and Dragons into an all action multiplayer experience.

You're able to take the role of one of four different characters. Each with their own set of controls. There's Thor the Warrior with his trusty battle axe, Thyra the Valkerie armed with a sword and shield, Merlin the Wizard who brings magic to the party and Questor the Elf who is swift on on his feet as well as being a deadly shot with his bow and arrow.

Gauntlet is a never ending maze game (there is no ultimate goal to complete the game) that builds real camaraderie between players. Game play is fiendishly addictive with an endless array of levels to explore.

Players life constantly ticks down and moves down at an alarming rate if you're attacked by a ghost or pinned down by a Grunt, Demon or Death itself! To replenish health there is food scattered around the maze. Team work is required to ensure you let other members of the team eat if you have a strong life force.

As you play Gauntlet the game is narrated with comments such as "Let's see you get out of here!". If you accidentally shoot food you'll be blamed for this and when your life force is ebbing you'll hear that you're about to die. This extra level of detail really pulls you into the whole ambience of the game.

The machine comes with 4 coin mechanisms (one for each player) set at the original price of play of 10p. These can be changed to another amount such as 50p per play if required, plus the machine can also be set to freeplay.
