Now we're off to the fantasy zone!
If you were playing video games in 1985 you will likely remember the Fantasy Zone and the two words coming from the game speakers, "Get Ready!" that would launch into it.
Sega's Space Harrier, released in 1985, was produced by Yu Suzuki who helped create many of Sega's most popular games. Suzuki created a classic with Space Harrier, a game so popular in the arcades that it has been ported to numerous game consoles including the Wii in 2009.

When the player heard the words "Get Ready!" he had to be ready to face an amazing number of colorfully lethal monstrosities right out of Mad Hatters bad dream. With 18 levels of play in a surreal day-glo world, waves of killer robots, one-eyed wooly mammoths, flying stone heads from Easter Island and fire breathing dragons there was more than enough action to work up a serious sweat.

Gameplay is simplicity itself. Players control the games erstwhile warrior, Space Harrier (a.k.a. Harri), with a jet fighter style joystick. Harri, a veteran of many an interstellar war, can move along the ground or fly through the air with the aid of his trusty jetpack which also doubles as his laser cannon. The laser cannon is fired by a button, a button that will get a lot of use as players encounter and kill the many evil critters.
While navigating each level players must avoid running into stationary objects and dodge enemy fire. The bad guys will shoot at you with bullets, fireballs and rockets. At the end of each level there is a boss to kill and they are always impressive massive beasts such as the skull faced octopus Barbarian.

There is classic arcade background music that plays from a first rate stereo system.
