Heroes in a half shell! Turtle Power! Yes, Teenage Mutant Hero Turtles as it was called in the UK release. Apparently the machine didn't use the US name of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles in case it turned the youth of the time into shuriken throwing loonies. Bless the nanny state!
This legendary fighting game sees you take on the role of Leonardo, Raphael, Donatello or Michaelangelo against the might of the evil Shredder.
The game starts with you dropped straight into a burning building to save ace reporter and all round fittie April O'Neil. Once they reach April the diabolical Shredder whisks her away and even kidnaps Splinter their Ninja master. You must then find the secret headquarters of the Foot Clan that will eventually lead you to the brains of the operation - Krang.
The turtle warriors have to make their way through various streets, alleys and sewers using whatever means they can, while also battling hordes of the Foot Clan. Can the turtles destroy the Technodrome and wipe out Shredder and Krang before they escape to Dimension X?
This game introduced some great gaming features. Other players can enter at any time to help you out. Get your friends together and you can have four people playing at once. This is the best way to play as it builds great camaraderie.
The graphics match the cartoon of the same era. It's a great nostalgia game that still stands up today.
